quick answer is that we are either slaves to sin or righteousness "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life." Romans 6:22
There can be no "freedom" if that means our own autonomy to do what we will. True freedom means coming into line with His will, not how far he will let us go. If we are saved by grace and not works, then there is NOTHING too big for him to ask or command of us. We are his, or else in rebellion and slaves to sin.
